Veronica J. Rutledge, just 29 years old was accidentally shot and killed inside the Hayden, Idaho Wal-Mart by her 2 year old son.
Veronica and her family were visiting from Blackfoot, Idaho (about 40 miles Northeast of Spokane, Washington). She and her two year old son along with three other children were doing some shopping inside the Wal-mart when her son accidently found her concealed handgun inside her purse inside the shopping cart. The young boy grabbed the small caliber handgun and fired 1 time. Her husband was informed arrived at the scene at 10:20 am.
Rutledge was an employee of the Idaho National Laboratory which supported the US Department of Energy in Nuclear and Energy research and national defense.
